History Postcards Our Thoughts |

BuildingsOfDetroit.COM > Places > Michigan Theatre > Our Thoughts
Detroit's finest theater, is now a parking garage. Walking through the structure, seeing the remains of the lobby, ticket booth, balcony and curtain sets a depressing mood. It's amazing they never thought of preservation when they converted it. We are just glad to see what we have today, to show why preservation is needed, and being able to see the theater and see how large it once was. We wish the building owners would preserve and restore what plaster is left, it still looks great despite its worn and damaged appearance. It's a shame this is Rapp & Rapp's only theater in Detroit. We appreciate the current owners of the building letting interested people in to see the former theater. If you are interested in going in, just ask the security guard in the lobby. |
