Industrial Stevens Apartments
The Industrial Stevens Apartments opened in 1928 on Washington Boulevard as the headquarters for the Industrial Bank of Detroit. Known then as the Industrial Bank Building, this Art Moderne-Art Deco skyscraper was designed by Louis Kamper, the architect responsible for many other Detroit landmarks, including the Book Tower, the Book-Cadillac Hotel, the David Broderick Tower and the Water Board Building.
While the exterior looks much like it did when it opened, the interior has been heavily modernized. Today, it is used as low-income housing.
More history, photos and artifacts of this building coming soon.
