BuildingsOfDetroit.COM > About > About Us About Us BuildingsOfDetroit.COM is an effort by a small team of two (the founder and a staff member who joined the team September, 2007) to spread the history of Detroit's mostly forgotten architectural structures. The site has existed at the present domain since May 2006, but has been with the same form since before the name change, dating back to about 2004. By documenting historical buildings in present day, we hope to raise awareness of the day-to-day happens at buildings, such as looting, vandalism, and demolition by neglect. Documentation on the site by means of photo has slowly improved artisticly as our experience and equipment has been improved as well. Presently as of 2007, photos are shot with a Nikon d70s, whereas before that an Olympus C-765 was used for a year before that time, at which we started with an Olympus D-540. While the quality of photos taken is important, more weight is given into documentation rather than artistic quality, so that we can present as much visual data of a building by all means. The focus of the site is the Buildings pages, and such more work is devoted to this section than to any other spot on the site. We hope to maintain historicallty accurate records and add more buildings as time allows us to do. We try to add buildings that have a strong history or architectural significance above others. Usually buildings that we have documented fully are released on the site, as to not have locations that lack content. |
